Dias-Net Report (5 MB )

The DIAS project will contribute to the Information Society Technologies Programme (IST) under the 5th Framework Programme of European Research, as a demonstration project, creating an innovative platform and network of European islands and isolated regions that will be built up using the results of European R&D projects.

One of the main objectives of the project is to exploit the research funded by the EU for the benefit of the insular regions, unifying European effort to help their development towards the information society.

DIAS aims to make a significant contribution to the challenge of eEurope, and more specifically to:

  • Share knowledge and resources.

  • The creation of effective collaboration tools at regional level (business, administrations, R&D institutes, academia, SMEs, industry, service providers, etc.) and between regions.

  • Facilitate interaction between the administrations and between them and the local agents and citizens.

  • Share efforts to improve the local skills and the benefit for the people.

  • Provide better access for all to useful services and applications.
